Genesis of the story

Blogger: How did the genesis of the fantastic novel “Lili, Vitruvian's first wife” come about?
I. Lav: I will distinguish several stages in this genesis.
Step 1. Initially, I had the theme. A couple, Lili and Jason, go their separate ways and each goes on with their lives trying to make sense of their lives.
For that, I had to go to the source of their deep ailments and there I was blocked.
Blogger: The shadows symbolize these evils. How did you come to this idea ?
I.Lav: This is step 2. A story of divers who disappeared from my sight made me think of the famous phrase “running after his shadow” inspired me. I then imagined Lili running after her shadow. And the latter competing with it. It's a great stake, isn't it? I had a lot of fun writing it.
Blogger: So you had the theme, the shadows for the fantastic, you needed the context.
I.Lav: Stage 3. The landscape must have been spooky. A delta could do the trick with lagoons, oyster beds, a bird reserve, the sea nearby. I added dunes… I had everything except that I did not know who would be the narrator.
Blogger: Lili is the narrator. You did a sleight of hand, right?
I.Lav: (laughs) Step 4. Yes. Each of my protagonists could only tell their own story and not that of the other. How do I do it? Boccaccio's decameron inspired me, (these are stories within a story). So I made Jason disappear at sea. A year later, friends, brother and wife come together to honor the memory of the deceased. During the vigils, the lives of Lili and Jason parade amid considerations of life and death.
Blogger: This novel is very pleasant to read, humor, poetry, philosophical reflections ... Sometimes, the shadows made me think of current beliefs that arise from quantum physics.
I. Lav: laughs. Everyone sees what they want. This novel can be ordered anywhere: in bookstores, Amazon, Fnac, Cultura and the Leclerc cultural center.
Blogger: I highly recommend reading it. The quest for the meaning of life is a question we all ask ourselves. The way to go is not easy, work on yourself is necessary.
